WVB: No. 2 UC San Diego Upset By San Francisco State; Tritons Fall 3-1

The 2nd-ranked UC San Diego women's volleyball team saw its 16-match winning streak come to an end in a 25-19, 16-25, 25-15, 30-28 loss to San Francisco State at Main Gymnasium on Friday night. The Gators, making a strong push for an NCAA West Region tournament berth, held off four UCSD chances in the fourth set for set point, and finished off the upset with a block. Sylvia Schmidt led the Tritons with 20 kills, while Julia Freidenberg added eight kills on .467 hitting. SWIM: Tritons Race Against Division I Foes at San Diego State; Women Pick Up Win Over Idaho

The UC San Diego swimming and diving squads competed against their first Division I opponents of the 2009-10 season, as UCSD, Texas Christian, Idaho and host San Diego State challenged each other in dual meets on the Aztecs' campus. In the only official men's meet of the day, UCSD fell to TCU, 157.5-123.5.
